Grand celebration of African urban arts & culture immersed in the natural beauty of Cape Mac — Lake Malawi.

In a strategic move to further integrate urban culture with the scenic lakeshore regions, the flagship UMP event has relocated to Cape Maclear, Mangochi, and is scheduled for three days from 25th to 28th October 2024.

By embracing Cape Maclear's local community and natural beauty, the Festival endeavors to flip the script on local tourism, creating local and international connections, and making moves that matter.

 
The UMP Festival 2024 - The Evolution, powered by Chitoliro Productionz, marks a significant milestone in its journey. Collaborating across diverse artistic realms encompassing music, film, dance, fashion, and sports, Chitoliro Productionz brings innovation to the forefront. Originating in 2009 as a mini-concert at Grin Bamboo in Blantyre, employing a makeshift stage on the back of a truck, the festival has evolved from its roots as the Urban Music Party to its current rebranding as Urban Music People. Previously held at venues such as the Blantyre Sports Club in 2017, featuring performances by acclaimed South African rappers Emtee and Nadia Nakai, the festival has consistently showcased stellar talent including Gemini Major, Pop Dogg, Sonye, Purple C, Tay Grin, and Fredokiss. This year, the UMP Festival ventures to the lake for the first time, promising a new and captivating experience. Throughout its journey, from venues like the French Cultural Centre, BT Sports Club, BAT, to Grin Bamboo, each stage has contributed to the vibrant tapestry of UMP's evolution, cementing its place in the cultural landscape as one of the most anticipated events of the year.

UMP Festival organizers, Chitoliro Productionz are inviting applications from both up and coming and established artists from across the world in all creative realms.

Successful applicants will perform at UMP Festival 2024 edition dubbed "The Evolution" scheduled from 25th to 28th October at Cape Maclear, Mangochi.

This year's three day UMP festival will include music, film, fashion, poetry, art exhibition, sports, games and other recreational activities.

A team of professionals from above mentioned disciplines and media will be mandated to shortlist the applicants.

UMP will further be announcing names on a rolling basis and the team will also do an active search to fill in specific roles at the festival.

Please note that special invitations will be sent to selected local and international acts based on characteristics aligned with the theme of the festival.

The final list will perform alongside local and international headliners to be announced soon.
